Mildred Joan Stensrud

Mildred Joan Stensrud passed away peacefully at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton on July 7, 2026, at the age of 93.

Mildred was born on a farm north of Ryley on February 11, 1933 to Mary and Jorgen Davick. She married Walter Stensrud on March 2, 1951 and together they raised their three children Gary, Lola and Dale on their farm. She took an active role on the farm until they moved into
Ryley in 1984.

Mildred was a proud and respected member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ryley Branch 192 for many decades. She valued the friendships she made through the Legion and enjoyed giving back to her community. Mildred was also a devoted member of Bethel Lutheran Church where her faith was an important part of her life. She cherished her church family and found great joy in worship, fellowship, and serving alongside them. She will be deeply missed.

Mildred is survived by her daughter Lola Pepper (Ron), her son Dale Stensrud (Colleen), her daughter-in-law Diane Stensrud and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and treasured friends. She is predeceased by her husband Walter, her son Gary and her son-in-law Donald Wagner.

A funeral service was held on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the Ryley Community Center and interment took place at Ryley Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Huntington Society of Canada or the charity of choice.
