In Loving Memory
Rilla Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Bouchard, (nee Watkins)
July 3, 1935 – February 10, 2026

Rilla Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Bouchard, (nee Watkins) known as Betty, passed away on February 10, 2026, in Leduc, Alberta.
Born on July 3, 1935 in Strome, Alberta, Betty’s life was marked by her quick wit, sharp tongue, intelligence, and boundless creativity.
She embraced her 90 years with the kind of strength that inspired everyone around her. Betty was the matriarch of a loving family that included her son Rod Bouchard and his wife Bev, her daughter Linda Palmer and her husband Don, her youngest son Alphee. Her pride and joy were grandchildren Shaun, Kristy, Scott, Blair, Lindsey, and Tess, and her great-grandchildren Hunter, Norah, Maisey, and William.
She is predeceased by her husband Verne and two sons Gary and John Bouchard.
Her early education began in Strome and continued in Sedgewick, Alberta, where she completed high school. She married Verne Bouchard in 1958. They lived in Killam and raised their family before moving to Edson, then to Spruce Grove and finally Stony Plain.
She and Verne spent time camping and fishing, playing cards, going to ball games and spending time with the family.
Her memory will be cherished, and her presence deeply missed. Betty’s light will forever shine in the hearts of those who loved her, and her story will be told with warmth and admiration for years to come. We can hear her say “Ignore the mess! The coffee’s on!”
Donations in Betty’s memory can be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Edmonton on March 30 at 1:00 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Services, 10129 Princess Elizabeth Ave, Edmonton, AB.
