Fort Saskatchewan RCMP arrests youth in targeted airsoft shootings complaint

On Feb. 20, 2026, with the assistance from the public and the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP School Resource Officer, Fort Saskatchewan RCMP arrested a 17-year-old male related to targeted airsoft shootings.

It was previously reported that Fort Saskatchewan RCMP have responded to six calls for service involving teens with imitation firearms in the past week or so.

Police have leaned that these youth are carrying Airsoft guns and are shooting each other as part of a social media challenge that have been appearing in Canada for approximately four years. 

The youth in custody has been charged with the following:

  • Assault with a weapon x 2,
  • Using imitation firearm in the commission of an offence – while committing offence,
  • Fail to comply with release order condition,
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose

Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, the youth was released from custody and is awaiting his court appearance.

The investigation is currently ongoing.
